What's the Word on the Street This Week?

Some days you just have to laugh or else you’ll cry.  Today was one of those days for me.  My husband’s birthday was the other day and the kids and I bought him a cake at the grocery store.  In order to keep my kids from devouring the leftover cake all in one sitting, I thought I’d be smart and hide it in the oven (because what kid looks in the oven for anything).  That was all well and good until I preheated my oven today to heat up a pizza. I had completely forgotten that I had hidden the cake in the oven until I saw flames through the oven door!  I will admit, it was not my finest hour and I am eternally grateful that my husband was home at the time and kept a level head…because I did not.  I even had one of those moments where my brain completely froze and even the thought of pouring water on the fire escaped me.  Thankfully, I did not burn the house down, the oven still works (yep, we cleaned it up and still cooked the pizza) and six hours later the house no longer reeks of melted plastic.  The moral of my story: the oven is not the best place to hide things.
