Once we exhausted the first side of the fun farm, the kids spent an extended period of time jumping on the jumping pillow. Talk about fun! It made me wish I was a kid again so I could join in the fun. Another fun event the kids got to enjoy was watching the pig races and the pumpkin smashing! Who would have guessed how far a pumpkin will splatter when it’s dropped from a crane high up in the air!
The “other” side of the fun farm has just as exciting activities, including a Hay Bale Mountain, that you can climb over or under or just sit a spell and relax; the Barnyard Ball Zone, where you can play football, baseball, and basketball; the Pumpkin Playhouse; Tug of War; Tractor Pulls; Mega Slides; a Corn Crib; and, for a small extra fee, you can shoot miniature pumpkins out of the pumpkin cannons! This was a highlight for young and old alike!
After we explored all of the play areas, we headed into the corn maze! This year’s theme is Pokemon so we had to solve the Pokemon clues in order to find our way out. They have a shorter maze for the smaller crowd, about a 20-minute excursion, and then they have a 10-acre maze, which takes an average of an hour to master After you’ve hiked through the extensive corn maze, I highly recommend you take a break by enjoying the hayride, which will take you around the perimeter of the farm allowing you to enjoy the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains that lie to the east of the farm.
On your way out, make sure you stop in the General Store to peruse the local wares before you head next door to the Pick Your Own Pumpkin Patch, where you can pick your pumpkins of choice right off the vine. Wayside Fun Farm is a great way to spend the day with your family while enjoying the great outdoors during the fall season! They are open every Saturday and Sunday from September 23rd through October 29th from 10am - 6pm and on Columbus Day (October 9th) from 10am - 6pm. The cost of admission is $10 per person (ages 2 and under are FREE) but if you mention Macaroni Kid, you will receive 20% off your admission cost. (Admission fee includes all activities except pumpkins for the pumpkin gun and pumpkins picked at the Pick Your Own Pumpkin Patch) Admission with Military ID is also FREE.
Also, on October 20th and October 21st, Wayside Fun Farm will host a Night Maze, where the Loudoun Valley High School Performing Arts program will spook you as you wind your way through the corn maze in the dark! Get all the details HERE!
